Your Brand and You

With the recent economic changes, more and more people are starting new businesses and need great branding. The question is, is your brand fit for purpose?

With the recent changes in the workplace, remote working, and use of technology, the internet allows us to create a ‘brand’ in minutes. And, if it’s a personal brand, professional sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and a multitude of others, allow us to showcase it to the world. If you want to establish yourself in a new industry, or even beef up your reputation in your existing one, building a brand to mark your position above your competition is key to success.

Find You Niche
Like ‘Nicholas St. North’ (Santa Claus) in the movie ‘Jack Frost | Rise of the Guardians’ (yes, I like the odd children’s movie) asks ‘What is your Center?’ – what drives you, what is your focus, what guides you, what makes you, what positions you above the rest? Once you know your ‘Center’ by finding your strengths and weakness it will help you focus on your long term brand message and goals.

Who Is Your Target Market?
You can use a ‘scattergun’ approach to target clients and future employers, but a more focused, tailored approach will work better to secure your targets, get your message across and ultimately safe money.

Developing a Brand Personality
Your brand personality is the human emotion and characteristics that become associated with you or your brand. These factors reflect your goals and value and help you stay authentic to your brand messaging.

Is your Content Relevant?
Sharing content is easy, however, is it relevant? Does it reflect who you are? What you wish to convey? You can share content by Reels, Stories, Blogging (both business & personal), podcasts etc. And, with so many options allowing you to share your content, keeping it relevant is key.

Social Media Presence
Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and more.. all give you the opportunity to create a social media presence. Use the relevant channel to inform, keep prospective and existing clients updated, highlight latest wins, ideas, concepts etc. The options are endless.

Going Up
The Elevator Pitch helps to solidify your offering and being able in the space of 30-60 seconds to summarise your offering is key to successfully pitching your business to new clients. It should be concise, positive and come appear confident – even if you aren’t!

Don’t be afraid to break the mould, ensure your media sounds like you and keep it authentic. Focus on making the brand do more work than you do. So lots to think about, work diligent through the process and you will be rewarded.
